Ford is expanding its EV lineup with the announcement of the electric Ford Ranger, possibly named the Ranger Lightning. The new electric truck is aimed at drivers who want power, utility, and zero emissions.
Rugged and Capable
The electric Ranger will retain the tough exterior and off-road capability of the gas-powered model. It’s expected to feature a dual-motor AWD system, providing up to 450 horsepower and 300 miles of range.
Ford is designing it with contractors and outdoor enthusiasts in mind, offering features like a front trunk (frunk), onboard power outlets, and a built-in workbench.
Technology and Safety
Like the F-150 Lightning, this truck will include Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving system, a 15-inch touchscreen, and over-the-air software updates.
Release Timeline
The Ranger EV is expected to launch by mid-2025, with pricing starting near $45,000. It will compete directly with electric trucks like the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T.
